Early Flyers Primary: Excellence Summit Program

Welcome to the Academic Workshop

Excellence Summit Program

What is coding?

Coding is the process of computer programming. Programming or coding is used to create web applications, to manipulate data, to create software, to develop digital games, to control robots etc.

Why is it important to learn how to code?

Jobs are changing! Automation of tasks by computers and robots are increasing. Governments and organisations around the world are worried about the shortage of workers with IT skills; the demand for workers with IT skills is expected to increase during the next decade. To combat this shortage Governments are implementing new curriculum that includes technology, critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Next year when you enter Grade 7 you will be offered technology classes that include a study of robotics and coding.

Robotics and automation is used in many industries; industries such as military, medical, manufacturing, finance, security, construction and agriculture.
